Stock

A game holds a stock of mints; its rooms place them by name.

A game owns the mints it uses. A mint in the game's stock is out of your bag and the game's to place: as many instances as you like, in any room of the game. It comes back to the bag only when no instance of it stands anywhere.

eggox bag the mints in your bag
eggox stock what the game holds, and how many stand where
eggox stock add "Lamp Post" a mint from the bag into the stock
eggox stock take "Lamp Post" back to the bag (nothing of it may stand)
eggox stock use "Lamp Post" 2 every Lamp Post shows version 2

In the Studio the same happens by dragging from the bag into a room, and the STOCK section of the hierarchy shows what the game holds.

A thing named in a room or in things/ must be in the stock. The push refuses otherwise and names the file. The art of a thing is the mint's; the folder only names it. Which published version of it the game shows is a setting of the stock, not of the files: eggox stock use (or the thing's version picker in Eggox) switches every instance at once.

Every room of the game places instances the same way, the root room included, whether the game is published or still a draft. eggox stock counts them all.

How many to mint

A game needs one mint of a thing, however many instances stand. eggox stock add moves the whole stack into the game, so a stack of ten puts all ten in, and none of them come back to the bag while an instance stands. Minting is free but happens once per design, so the count you pick is all there will be: for a thing made only for your own game, one is enough. Mint more for editions you mean to sell or trade.

Entrance artwork

A stock mint can also dress the game’s entrance. In Studio use Entrance Appearance, or run eggox entrance set "Cat Door". The mint stays in stock and remains available for instances inside the experience. Its shape and walking rules are preserved. An entrance using a mint prevents it from returning to your bag until you choose another appearance or the default star. See eggox entrance.

Entrance appearance is a separate, immediate setting. Pulling or pushing a project does not change it. Reset it with eggox entrance reset.
